ASSIGNMENT 1 

Tender Documentation

2-storeys bungalow

 

 

This group assignment constitutes 20% of the total assessment. We were required to prepare a tender documentation. We have 7 members in our group which are Albert Pang, Lee Jian Ru, Chin Weng Lok, Hazim, Mok Po Yi, Yap Jia En and I.

This project aims to demonstrate us the familiarity with a typical tender documentation process including liaison with external project team members namely Client, Architects and Engineers etc. It allows us to sharpen the skills in management and co-ordination as a team within the context of a consultant Quantity Surveyor's office in the production of the BQ and ultimately the complete tender documents. In addition, sharpen our skills on writing descriptions and measurement of all elements of works in a typical building project.

As for me, I'm in charge on measurement of doors, windows, sanitary fittings, PC and Provisional Sums, sewer drainage as well as prepares presentation slides. As for the assignment which integrated with Software module, I'm in charge of finding rates for doors and create a BQ by using Buildsoft to include all the rates that I've found for doors.

After finishing this group assignment, I've learned the importance of teamwork. Without the participation and efforts of every members, this assignment would not come to a success. Through this assignment, I've learned to measure elements that are new to me, which are sanitary fittings, PC and Provisional Sums and sewer drainage. Last but not least, I've learned to communicate and discuss with my fellow group mates when encountering any problems on measurement. I'm so glad that my group mates are always there for me and we really coordinate well throughout the process of working on this assignment.
