GROUP ASSIGNMENT 

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

Mah Sing Group Berhad

 

This group assignment constitutes 30% of the total assessment. We were needed to perform a financial analysis of Mah Sing Group Berhad, a company listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. We were advised to download the latest annual reports to perform this financial analysis. Using information that we can glean from its annual and quarterly reports as well as from other sources such as newspapers, online resources and industry magazines, we were then assigned to write a report evaluating the financial strength of Mah Sing Group Berhad.

 

We were in a group of 6. For the report, we wrote a brief background of the company and its development, principal activities of the company, analysis of the revenue contributions of the different segments of the company, the current size of the company and challenges of the company facing the industry, company's strengths and weaknesses, company's strategic plans and company's major capital investments. We also included the analysis of Mah Sing's financial condition for FY2016 by evaluating the trends in the last 3 financial years (FY2013, FY2014, FY2015). Lastly, Weng Lok has prepared a conclusion and recommendation to wrap up this assignment.

From this assignment, I've learnt to analyze a company's performance based on their profile and financial performance. The most important lesson that I've learnt through this assignment is that understand all the equation to find out company's total asset turnover, average payment period and many more that have been taught by Ms. Tay in class.
