
Building Services I [ BLD 60403 ]

This module covers an introduction to services that are commonly provided in a building, primarily cold water treatment and supply, sewerage disposal and treatment, storm water management, telecommunication services and ventilation systems. Students are also made familiar with basics requirements, Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL), planning, coordination and installation of these services.
Create awareness and understanding of the principles of service systems in a building
Introduce various building services system that are available and the limitation of the choices
Apply understanding and knowledge for preparation of the Bills of Quantities and for estimating purposes
From what I've learned from this module, I'm able to identify relevant information related to water supply, liquid waste disposal, storm water management, security services and ventilation system. Not only that, I'm able to explain principles, systems, space implications and regulations related to water supply, storm water and waste water disposal, internal air quality and telecommunication services. I get to recognize and interpret drawings related to buildings services and to illustrate services construction in schematic diagrams. Last but not least, the most important part that I learned from this module is that how to distinguish and differentiate the installation of various types of services in a building.
