Theory question (5%)
This session will be assessed by a lecturer. Each seminar leader will be given approximately 15 minutes to present their theory question. The presentation can be in any format. Each member of the seminar leader is encouraged to present during the seminar. After the presentation, each of the non-presenting group is required to ask at least one question to the seminar leader. The seminar leader shall cover the following for the theory question presentation:
-
Explain the question
-
Explain the details of relevant theories and concepts related to the question
-
The tactic to answer the question
As for our group, the theory question given was from Chapter 4-Various method of estimating. Through this seminar, we have better understanding on the chapter given. We had a well discussion on the topic and came out with the best answers to those questions.
Calculation question (5%)
This is a peer assessment session. Each individual member of the seminar leader will tutor approximately 2-3 students on how to do the given calculation question. The seminar leader members will be given approximately 30 minutes to tutor the students. The students will assess their tutor individually.
As for our group, the calculation question given was on roofing. We were required to tutor a group of 4 students. My students were Doreen, Darren, Wei Ling and Jia En. I find this seminar the most interesting because it need us to explain one by one to our course mate on how to calculate on the material cost, labour cost and eventually came out with a standard rate of roof. This required a lot of patience and well guidance.
