
Measurement IV [ QSB 60404 ]
Lecturer : Sr. Loo Seong King
This is a 6 credit hour module that conducted over a period of 14 weeks. The modes of delivery will be in the form of lectures, tutorials, and self-directed study. The module covers the measurement of bored piles, renovation and demolition works and various elements of external works. It also covers introduction on the principles of specification writing, form of specification writing and their uses for the various trades.
It allows student to familiarise with the nature of tendering process and contractual documentation and the ability to locate, extract and analyse data from multiple sources including drawn information. Students will be able to question standard practice, and to apply professional judgement in making recommendations and solving problems for future best practice.
From the lectures that had been conducted by Mr. Loo, I've learned to recognise the items measurable for bored piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works. Furthermore, able to distinguish and illustrate differences in writing-up descriptions in accordance to design changes for bored piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works. Not only that, I'm able to evaluate the relationship between Specifications, Drawings and Bill of Quantities in Tender Documents for bored piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works. Most importantly, be able to generate a conceptual understanding of and the ability to competently carry out the preparation of the Bills of Quantities for bored piles, renovation and demolition works, and various external works.
