This is a 4 credit hour module conducted over a period of 14 weeks. The modes of delivery will be in the form of lectures, tutorials and self-directed study. This module provides us the background, theories, concepts and principles of management. It also explores the various organisational characteristics, structure, behaviour and effectiveness of an organisation.

 

From the lectures that had been conducted by Mr. Wong, I’ve learned a lot on the different approach of principles and concepts that can be applied in real life. The topics which covered were the 6 managerial competencies, strategic management, decision making, organisational design, motivation, leadership, team and working groups, communication, human resource management, time management and information management.

 

I find this module interesting, unlike other modules, it possesses real life practices where one can apply. I’ve learned a lot especially during every tutorial classes as everyone of us was divided into groups and was needed to present based on certain topic given by applying principles learnt during lecture classes. It furthers enhance our critical thinking skills and presentation skills. Most importantly, Mr. Wong has shared some of his real life experiences with us. I’m glad to know this lecturer and he has inspired me in various ways.
