
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT
TRUSS ANALYSIS [GRAPH]
This individual assignment stands 25% of the total assessment. We were required to carry out a truss analysis by using the graphical method.
The method is based upon the condition that each joint in a truss is in equilibrium so that the forces acting at a joint may be represented in magnitude and direction by the sides of a closed polygon. The directions of the forces must be drawn in the same directions as the corresponding members and there must be no more than two unknown forces at a particular jont otherwise a polygon of forces cannot be constructed.
From this assignment, we found it interesting because it made us realized that the design of a truss wasn’t that easy. It required a lot of analysis to make a truss rigid enough to support all the external forces and internal forces in order to make a truss stable and strong. Most importantly, won’t collapse no matter how.
