
Development Economics [ QSB 60303 ]

This is a 4 credit hour module that conducted over a period of 14 weeks. The modes of delivery will be in the form of lectures, tutorials, and self-directed study. The module has taught me on calculating the developer's budget, execute cost-benefit analysis in the early stage of investment proposal and valuation system as well as classify various source of finance available in the construction industry and to outline the requirement in a quality market research.
This module taught us on the development, roles and contribution of construction industry to national economy. We were introduced to the process in property development and factors that influence the development process. Various techniques of development appraisal and source of finance available were also been taught in class. Lastly, the importance of market research to the overall development process and its impact of research to the development were also highlighted in this module.
From this module, I've learned to understand the basic principles of economics and its link to the real world of construction and to develop an understanding of the whole process of property development. Furthermore, able to enhance the understanding of the contribution of feasibility study in property development. Not only that, I'm able to clarify the overall mechanism of finance system in the construction industry.
