
Building Services II [ BLD 60503 ]

This is a 4 credit hour module conducted over a period of 14 weeks. The modes of delivery will be in the form of lectures, tutorials and self-directed study. This module introduces students to services that are commonly provided in a building, such as fire protection system, vertical transportation system, mechanical air-conditioning system as well as electricity generation and supply system. Furthermore, we are also made familiar with the basic requirements, Uniform Building By-Law (UBBL), planning, coordination and installation of these services.
From this module, we get to learn the principles of building services system in a building. This will further help us to apply our understanding and knowledge for the preparation of the Bills of Quantities and for estimating purposes. In addition, we have learned to illustrate services construction in schematic diagrams and we are able to distinguish as well as differentiate the installation of various types of services in a building.
