This is a 4 credit hour module that conducted over a period of 14 weeks. The modes of delivery will be in the form of lectures, tutorials, and self-directed study. The module allow us to use a depth of subject knowledge and apply analytical and research skills in closely defined topic areas. We also learned to collect data and information required and analyse data collected using appropriate techniques and tools.

The modules intends to introduce students to academic research and provide some in depth understanding of the research methodology. We are required to undertake and submit a dissertation which is an independent research work by our own. The dissertation comprises of Chapter 1 and 2 which have been completed in Semester 5 as well as Chapter 3,4 and 5 that need to be done in Semester 6. An effective research combined with clear and concise presentation of between 10,000 to 12,000 words should be demonstrated by the dissertation.

Since we are required to carry out research methodology, conduct a survey, analyze the gathered data and write up conclusion for our dissertation for this module, I've learned to develop awareness of the current local and global issues in the construction industry. Furthermore, able to explore the approaches to research. Not only that, I'm able to demonstrate a systematic and orderly mind to produce a viable academic research.
