ASSIGNMENT 2 

GROUP ASSIGNMENT

This group assignment constitutes 20% of the total assessment. This will be a group project (maximum 5 members) where the students will prepare a project proposal for procurement arrangements to a client. The Malaysian economic downturn has affected the developers of country in delivering and meeting key property development and sales targets.

As one of the experts in this subject in our country, we have been called upon to write a report for our client who is a property developer about the principles of basic procurement methods (traditional, construction management and/ or management contracting) its advantages and disadvantages in the context of the proposed project (20 storey condominium, 200 units of residential houses or 3 storeys shopping mall). We are required to critically examine the types of our propose basic procurement methods and suggest a suitable type for the project. Next is to examine and propose suitable contract forms for the project. Also, evaluate the viability of the Design and Build as a procurement method for the new project in comparison with basic procurement methods.

Through this assignment, I've learnt to differentiate different types of procurement method. Jack, Pey Mun, Kar Khei, Michael and I cooperate well throughout the progress. We discussed thoroughly on the topic given and were able to come out with a fantastic outcome. I was glad that the whole presentation was a success. Most importantly, we were thankful for Mr. Wong's guidance because without his guidance I don't think that we will be able to do this well.
